This is the latest case in a series of Twitter hackings that occurred in the last few weeks. The tweet was up on the GSuite account for around 10-11 minutes, and to this moment no official statement from Google has been released.
Other companies, like Target, have also been the subject of such malicious attacks. Earlier, the retailer confirmed that a tweet from their hacked official account, which was on the feed for about 30 minutes, was linking to a Bitcoin scam.
Twitter has been busy focusing its team on the breaches, as the GSuite hack was done just as the social platform announced they are doing its best to contain the attacks after Target’s case.
In the last few months, Twitter has been subject to numerous scam issues – impersonators using the name of Elon Musk and creating fake profiles to promote scams were not discouraged by the platform’s ban of the name. The case escalated quickly with Musk himself reaching for help from Dogecoin.
It is more than likely that this is not the last we have seen of the hackers. Hopes are that Twitter’s team is treating the cases seriously as the security needs to be resolved as quickly as possible.
