Filmgrid is a peer-to-peer platform for commerce, financing and streaming of independent films. The objective of Filmgrid is to remove movie distribution companies and movie theatres as mediators by utilizing decentralization. Profits would be equally distributed among filmmakers while the costs of the products are reduced to the users
The blockchain platform of Filmgrid is divided into three main segments:
- The Billboard or a Movie Marketplace shows all the digital movies registered for sale
- The Pitchboard or a Funding Platform is where on-going film projects and film ideas seek financing
- The Critique Bay or a Cinema Social Network serves as a social reputation system for quality control
Each movie registered on Filmgrid is provided with an individual page with a detailed information about it. The utility token Filmpass (FILM) is built on the Ethereum blockchain. The Pre-ICO starts on 12 December 2018 and is planned to end on 31 December 2018. The soft cap is 7,040 ETH, and USA is a restricted area.
