HKPC Showcases Infinite Possibilities Of “Future Manufacturing” And New Productive Forces

GITEX Global 2024, the world’s most iconic technology exhibition, opened today in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), as a nationwide leader in innovative, market-driven research and development (R&D), specialising in leading technologies and allrounded manufacturing services, is participating this year with the theme of "Future Manufacturing". The booth features AI-powered "Microfactory" solutions and numerous innovative technologies, showcasing Hong Kong's strong research capabilities and achievements in new industrialisation. As Hong Kong’s first public organisation to exhibit the city's innovation and technology (I&T) achievements at GITEX Global, HKPC is collaborating with other Hong Kong exhibiters this year to tell the world the good stories of Hong Kong I&T, aiming to help the global audience better understand Hong Kong's unique strengths as an international I&T centre. This aligns with the national strategy of driving new productive forces through technology, enhancing Hong Kong's international competitiveness.

HKPC's booth has garnered significant attention at GITEX Global. Technical experts from Governments, leading enterprises, universities, and research institutes worldwide, as well as representatives from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai and other institutions, have shown great interest in the innovative technologies and solutions displayed by HKPC. They interacted with HKPC's technology team to discuss the development direction of future manufacturing. HKPC’s experts shared the findings enthusiastically from the "Hong Kong Manufacturing Industries Development Study Report"1 released earlier this year, which highlighted that “lots of variety in fewer quantities” in customisation and sustainable development are the global trends in manufacturing. This received widespread recognition from the attendees. HKPC's booth also showcased "Microfactory" solutions and successful cases covering advanced smart production technologies, including Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT), digital twin scenes, extended reality (XR) technologies, humanoid robots, and new materials. These solutions enable highly flexible production models to achieve customisation and green production, promoting industrial upgrading and transformation.

Dr Lawrence CHEUNG, Chief Innovation Officer of HKPC, said, "We are delighted to be presence in Dubai, where we look forward to engaging with technology experts, partners, and industry clients from around the world, exploring collaboration opportunities in future manufacturing and smart transformation. The positive feedback on our 'Microfactory' solutions is a testament to Hong Kong's research strengths. As a pilot production base, it demonstrates the feasibility and research capabilities of Hong Kong's technologies. We are confident in extending the 'Microfactory' technology from local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to other international scenarios, meeting the diverse and flexible production needs of large enterprises. At GITEX Global, HKPC will leverage Hong Kong's unique advantages of strong support from the country and extensive global connections, providing better support for enterprises in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and other regions in the Chinese Mainland to 'go global', while attracting overseas enterprises to explore the market in the GBA and the entire Chinese Mainland."

During the five-day GITEX Global, HKPC will meet with representatives from industry, academia, and research worldwide to exchange research results and explore mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities.

Meanwhile, we will also promote the concept and essence of new productive forces to overseas institutions and investors, facilitating its global application and making it a growth engine driving world development.

HKPC welcomes all stakeholders from the Government, industry, academia, and research who are interested in developing future manufacturing, new industrialisation, and new productive forces to strengthen contact and communication with HKPC. GITEX Global participants are welcome to visit HKPC's booth (H24-A20) to interact and discuss with our expert team while the public in Hong Kong can also schedule a visit to the “Future Manufacturing Hall” at the HKPC Building to experience Hong Kong's technological achievements and innovative solutions.
