One of the largest blockchain-based operating systems, TRON, announced the launch of the TRON Accelerator program, empowering DApps developers to build applications on TRON’s network with a $1 Million Fund.

The primary goal of the accelerator program is to boost innovations in the blockchain industry.

The blockchain hackathon would help customer adoption of blockchain-based software products and services in TRON’s ecosystem. The hackathon news comes after TRON acquired BitTorrent, Project Atlas, and Poppy.

More than a million transactions were conducted in TRON’s ecosystem, with over 600,000 wallet holders.

Developers would register for the TRON Accelerator program from December 1st, 2018 to Jan 4th, 2019, and the 56 winners will be announced at niTRON summit, taking place in San Francisco from 17th to 18th January 2019.

The grand winner will receive $200,000, two developers will split the second place and get $100,000 each, and three winners will win the third prize of $50,000.

There will also be eight $30,000 special prizes, split into eight categories, like Most Onchain Activity DApp, Most Influential DApp, Excellent Blockchain Game, and Excellent Decentralized Exchange. All of the 42 finalists will receive a $5,000 bonus.

In October, TRON and China’s Internet giant Baidu announced cooperation between them for easy access to cloud computing resources. Furthermore, Justin Sun, TRON and BitTorrent’s CEO, announced an update to TRONs blockchain – Odyssey 3.1. According to Sun, the update will surpass Ethereum based on the speed of the transaction and beat EOS regarding costs of the transaction. The update consists of the launch of TRON Virtual Machine – a testing software, which allows developers to test smart contracts. The tested contracts can be transferred to the TRON MainNet.

TRON’s TRX is holding11th a position among the top 20 cryptocurrencies today, trading at $0.0189.
