Two-Thirds Of Crypto Moms And Dads Want Crypto Subjects In Schools

Cryptos have made their way into the world of mainstream finance, but the understanding of how cryptos operate is still lacking. This is why over two-thirds of the United States parents and college graduates with an understanding or involvement in crypto think that cryptos should be learned in schools.

A survey from the online educational platform Study.com reveals that topics like cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and Metaverse, should be taught in school as mandatory subjects, as they are “the future of economy”.

The surveyed parents and college graduates went through a screening process, to ensure the subjects had a sufficient level of understanding of blockchain tech, crypto, NFTs, and the Metaverse and disqualified anyone that didn’t understand the topics from participation.

Crypto awareness in America intensifies

The survey comes just as data research center Pew published that around 88% of Americans have at least heard of cryptocurrencies, while 16% of U.S. residents have invested or traded cryptocurrencies at some point in their lives.

Furthermore, Study.com’s findings also reveal that parents and college graduates who had invested in crypto are likely to contribute money to crypto education, with an average of $766 going towards kids’ crypto education from crypto-holding parents.

Meanwhile, the crypto craze pushed educational institutions like the University of Connecticut and Arizona State University to join the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University in introductory courses on blockchain tech and crypto applications. The courses are designed to help students “learn how to manage cryptocurrencies and how such digital assets impact our economy.”

“Overall, this trend will become a mainstay because a large number of exciting new jobs will come from the Web3 environment. It is, therefore, incumbent on educational institutions to help gear their student cohorts up for this important shift.” CEO of TZ APAC Colin Miles noted.

“We must open our schools to teach [blockchain] technology, to teach this new way of thinking.” New York City mayor Eric Adams added, stressing that local schools should embrace blockchain technology and digital assets.
