This currency aims to influence the environmental impact of mining. Most cryptocurrencies consume a lot of electricity for securing the blockchain. The miners of Grindcoin work on problems that benefit mankind, such as finding the cures for diseases or cl imate studies and receive compensation for their work.
Gridcoin has a unique hybrid consensus algorithm which makes its supply schedule more complex. The inflation rate is 6.5% and is a sum of 5% from research payments for computational effort and 1.5% fro m securing the platform.
