Ripple (XRP) is cryptocurrency and a remittance network. It is a distributed network and thanks to that, the transactions occur immediately. It can handle up to 1,500 transactions per second. One of the differences between Ripple and Bitcoin is that the XRP token can’t be mined; it is issued and can only be bought by exchange marketplaces. The total token supply is 100 billion. A small amount of the currency is destroyed after each transaction.
Ripple was created in 2012 by Arthur Britto, Ryan Fugger and David Schwartz. Today, the currency is becoming a leader in the payment technology and has been increasingly used by banks and payment networks.
