The event will take place on 19-20 May

The regulatory wave that has hit Vietnam’s banking sector all at once in 2026 — the new Personal Data Protection Law, mandatory biometrics, SBV Directive 02, and the removal of the credit quota that had governed lending since 2011 — has placed the nation’s financial institutions at a structural and operational crossroads; and summoned the World Financial Innovation Series (WFIS) to Meliá Hanoi on 19 – 20 May for another landmark edition.

In a statement issued, post-confirming his participation at the summit, the Deputy CDAIO at VietinBank, Thuong Nguyen expressed, “I’m looking forward to exchanging insights with fellow leaders across the industry and learning how banks are practically advancing their data and AI capabilities. Events like WFIS are valuable opportunities to connect, share experiences, and stay close to emerging trends shaping the future of financial services.”

In response to the unprecedented convergence of regulatory and structural reform, the two-day summit will confront these shifts head-on through rigorous, tightly focused panel sessions and fireside conversations spanning core concerns — from cloud-native banking platforms and digital money to hyper-personalised financial services, cybersecurity governance, and the future of financial inclusion.

To navigate this agenda with the rigour it demands, few institutions are better placed than the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA). As the primary association for banks, credit Institutions & related finance organisations, it brings the regulatory legitimacy and institutional credibility needed to bridge intent and reality at a moment when the distance between the two has rarely felt greater. It is with that objective that the VNBA returns to the upcoming edition, once again, as the Supporting Partner. Their enduring backing of the platform has become a defining feature of the series.

Another esteemed speaker for the summit, Ngoc Lan Anh Nguyen, Chief Technology & Operations Officer at Standard Chartered Bank, has been quite vocal about her approach for WFIS, “I look forward to exchanging perspectives on how truly integrated platforms, supported by effective processes and strong governance can drive inclusive growth, expand financial inclusion, and reinforce client trust as banking undergoes deeper transformation.”

In keeping with the scale of the agenda, the event has drawn a formidable lineup of sponsors, bringing together the industry’s most promising solution providers. This year counts nCino, StreamCube, Audax, CleverTap and WSO2 as Gold Sponsors, joined by HyperVerge as Associate Sponsor, and a Lunch Sponsor cohort — Yubico, Pega, AND Solutions, Viettel, Mambu, Brankas, Gimasys and MyID — whose combined scope spans authentication infrastructure, cloud-native core banking, open finance APIs, and customer engagement.

Across the exhibitor floor, renowned names like Sumsub, Feitian, Wultra, OZ Forensics, ABBYY, Freshworks, and Asseco among others collectively represent the technology Vietnam’s financial institutions will need to deploy, integrate, and govern in the years ahead.

The speaker roster depicts a carefully curated selection of senior practitioners representing institutions driving Vietnam's financial reform. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Quoc Hung Nguyen, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Vietnam Banks Association
  • Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy CEO and Chief Retail Banking Group Officer, Techcombank
  • Nguyen Viet Anh, Deputy CEO, TPBank
  • Tuan Nguyen, CIO, Techcombank
  • Cong Quynh Lan Tran, Deputy General Director, VietinBank
  • Kalidas Ghose, Chairman, UNOBank

Chairing a panel discussion on ‘Harnessing Data Intelligence to Drive Smarter Banking Decisions’, the Director of Cards and Payments at FE Credit, Gunneet Singh shared his game plan for the much-anticipated financial show, “I’m sharing a different perspective on data — how behavioural science turns it into smarter business decisions. And I'm equally here to learn how others in the room are solving the same challenges differently.”

Even Ha Hoang Thi Thuy, Chief Operating Officer at GPBank, stepped forward to express her exemplary vision for WFIS, “I’m looking forward to shaping the future of value innovation in banking and financial services at World Financial Innovation Series this year, in Vietnam.” The COO will be seen giving future-ready insights focused on CX in banking.

Together, these thought leaders will address an audience of over 500 pre-qualified delegates constituting Chief Executive, Information, Technology and Digital Officers, risk leaders, regulators, and many of the sector’s senior-most decision makers and industry practitioners drawn from more than 100 of Vietnam’s leading financial institutions spanning banks, insurance firms, digital lenders, and microfinance institutions.

As Vietnam's financial sector faces the imperative of having to transform myriad aspects without disrupting real-time operations or compromising stability, the World Financial Innovation Series (WFIS) prepares to assemble the most distinct platform in the country, bringing together the finest minds, institutions, innovators, and solutions the sector demands to navigate this juncture.

Highlighting the significance of the platform, Sudhir Jena, Co-founder & CEO of Tradepass, the global event organizing firm behind WFIS, shared, “Every market goes through cycles of reform. Vietnam, in particular, is at a point where multiple structural shifts have converged simultaneously and redefined the financial sector’s foundations. The World Financial Innovation Series is designed precisely for such a moment, which is to engage the urgency, complexity, and consequence of that shift with pioneering insight and industry authority — through, of course, leaders and institutions who have the means to do so. And we’re only hosting the best.”
