GITEX AI Belgrade and Air Serbia join forces to connect Southeast Europe with the global tech and investment economy
GITEX AI Belgrade has announced a strategic partnership with Air Serbia, bringing together the global reach of the world’s largest AI and tech ecosystem network with the Western Balkans’ leading airline to strengthen international connectivity and access to Southeast Europe’s growing technology ecosystem.
The partnership will strengthen access to key markets across the Western Balkans and wider Southeast Europe, while deepening the region’s connections with global business, technology and investment hubs.
Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and organised by inD, GITEX AI Belgrade is the official technology and business event of EXPO 2027 BELGRADE. Taking place from 25–27 May 2027 at Belgrade Fair, the launch event will bring together global technology companies, startups, investors and government leaders from across 19 regional markets.
The agreement places Air Serbia among just four airlines worldwide to establish such a partnership with GITEX, alongside Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Royal Air Maroc, while making it the only carrier in Southeast Europe to do so.
The partnership brings together two international networks with a shared role in connecting people, markets and opportunities. Air Serbia connects Belgrade with more than 100 destinations worldwide, while GITEX’s global network spans six continents and 14 countries and cities, annually connecting 647,500 visitors, 18,200 technology companies and 5,050 investors managing US$3.5 trillion in assets.
Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, said: “Our network is built around connecting Serbia with the world, and this partnership extends that role into one of the most dynamic areas of economic growth – technology and innovation. As GITEX brings business leaders, investors and innovators from around the world to Belgrade, Air Serbia is proud to help connect that community with Serbia and the wider Southeast European region.”
Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, said: “Serbia’s national AI strategy and planned investment of around €70 million through 2027 demonstrate our determination to build an economy based on knowledge and innovation. GITEX AI Belgrade will accelerate the realization of this ambition by bringing companies, start-ups and institutions closer to global technology leaders and investors, while creating new opportunities in the run-up to the Specialized Expo 2027 Belgrade.
Our goal is to help Serbian companies integrate artificial intelligence, become more productive and competitive, and move beyond the concept of ‘Made in Serbia’ to ‘Created in Serbia’ — developing products and solutions for global markets and positioning Belgrade and the wider Southeast European region as an important hub for technology and international cooperation,” Čadež emphasized.
Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of GITEX, greeting the signing ceremony from the company's headquarters in Dubai, said: “Belgrade has always been a meeting point between East and West, making Air Serbia a natural partner for GITEX AI Belgrade. Together, we can make it easier for the global technology community to access Southeast Europe and for the region’s innovators to build connections far beyond their home markets.”
GITEX AI Belgrade will convene 700-plus exhibiting enterprises and startups alongside hundreds of investors managing US$50 billion in assets, and thousands of tech executives from across the globe. Through cross-border and public-private collaboration, the event will unlock investment in AI infrastructure and digital solutions while creating pathways for commercial partnerships, technology pilots and international expansion. With 140 countries already confirmed for EXPO 2027 BELGRADE, high-level ministerial, business, technology and investment delegations from around the world will converge at GITEX AI Belgrade during the Expo’s second week.
